1. How much does the Creatures, Crimes and Creativity (C3) conference cost?
The early bird special is $235 until February 28, 2013. Beginning March 1, 2013 it will cost $275. One day early bird registration is $110 and will go up to $130 on March 1, 2013.
2. So is this a writer’s conference?
No, this event is designed as an opportunity for readers and writers to meet in an informal atmosphere, and both groups should have fun!
3. Who should attend the C3 Conference?
Anyone can attend our conference. If you are a fan of suspense, mysteries, thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk or horror fiction you will have a great time! If you are an author who writes one of these genre, this con is for you too, and that includes subgenre such as paranormal and urban fantasy. Also, categories like Christian fiction and Young Adult that fall into one of the genre mentioned above will fit in well here. In fact, all authors are welcome because there will be many discussions about writing and the business of writing.
4. Where is the conference held?
The conference will be held at the Hunt Valley Inn in Cockeysville Maryland, a Baltimore suburb. The hotel is convenient to Amtrak and Marc trains which run right out of Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
5. How long is the C3 conference?
The conference will run from noon Friday until Noon on Sunday.
6. Are meals included?
YES. All meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast are included in the registration price.
7. Is the hotel cost included?
NO. You must make your reservation for your own room. Rooms at the Hunt Valley Inn have been discounted to $109 a night, and there are several other lodging options nearby.
8. Why should fans want to attend?
This is a chance to meet some of your favorite writers, and find new talents who write what you like to read. You will enjoy panels about the books and characters you love and get an inside view of the authors at panel discussions and interviews. And you might even win a prize like a new Kindle If you participate in special events like the scavenger hunt.
9. Where and how do I register?
All registrations will be on line. Go to the registration tab of this website and follow the instructions to register. Payments are through Paypal.
10. I plan ahead. Will your conference conflict with other important conferences?
We have scheduled the C3 conference on a rare weekend when no other major literary events are planned. The nearest is Bouchercon, which is scheduled for the weekend AFTER the C3 conference (September 19-22) in Albany, NY.
FOR PUBLISHED AUTHORS
11. Can I be on a panel?
AFTER you pay the registration fee, you will be contacted about panel assignments. Currently expectations are that every attending author will be on a panel or two, and be invited to participate in the writer’s roundtable discussions.
12. Can I sell my books?
NO personal sales will be allowed. However if you are a paid registered attendee, our author liaison will contact you to get your book information and have your book available at our on-site book store. If your books are available through normal distribution channels they will be ordered. If not, you may be able to arrange with the on-site bookstore to bring books and sell them on consignment.
13. Why would an author want to attend?
Attending authors will be able to meet with their fans and present to new potential readers on panels, and by sitting with readers during meals. Their books will be available in the conference bookstore. They will be invited to contribute a short story to the anthology which will be distributed to all attendees. They will be invited to contribute to the C3 conference blog. And the conference web site will carry your name and a link to your web site.
14. Can I advertise in the conference brochure?
Yes, below are the costs to advertise in the brochure.
